Connecting
Learners and Cartrefi Cymru are delighted to announce they delivered a
fantastic presentation at the Living Well with Dementia Through the Arts
Conference at Bangor University on 21/4/15.
The
day was attended by nearly 100 delegates, including neurodegenerative
professors, academic researchers, arts practitioners and colleagues from the
care sector.
Morwenna,
Hilary, Bridget and Hayley were on hand to demonstrate their new Creative
Wellbeing and Memory Boxes and talk to delegates about the brilliant work which
Cartrefi Cymru and Connecting Learners do together.
Following
presentations by Professor Bob Woods, Age Cymru and the Dementia Services
Development Centre, Bridget, Hilary and Mo took to the stage to discuss their
new half-day awareness courses. During their presentation they talked about the
importance of meaningful activities for people living with dementia, as well as
sharing some of their personal experiences and running creative writing and
music-making activities.
During
his summing up of the conference, Professor Bob Woods said, ‘If there’s one
thing I will take away from today, it’s Morwenna’s story of the positive effect
reminiscence has had on her father’s dementia.’
Well
done to everyone involved, it was a wonderful day which showcased Connecting
Learners and Staff Development’s fantastic work!
